The Wineva Johnson Center for Girls
Formerly the Belloni Girls Ranch, the Wineva Johnson Center for Girls operates as a residential treatment program for girls, ages 13-20, who demonstrate a persistent pattern of criminal behavior. Girls referred by the Oregon Youth Authority, typically have a history of family conflict, problems with chronic delinquency, substance abuse, and poor school performance. Girls are referred from all parts of the state, with priority given to residents on the Southern Oregon Coast. Much like the boys program, the program includes individual, family, and group counseling as well as individual and group skills training. Most girls stay an average of 9 to 12 months before graduating from the program and returning to home, foster care, or other community living. Our goal is to provide gender-based services to help girls focus on strengths, and restore relationships, while developing skills and behaviors that they need to return to their communities and become productive law-abiding citizens.
Rehabilitation services provided includes supervised group living, peer support, individual, group, and family counseling, individual and group skills training, on-site school, substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment, psychiatric assessment and consultation, medication management, independent living skills training, and sex offender treatment. A step down program is also offered to provide graduated practice of pro-social skills in the community with less structure, while continuing to provide residential care.
Girls are referred to the program by the Oregon Youth Authority and county juvenile departments, and must be in the care and custody of the Oregon Youth Authority by the juvenile court.
